Adaptation of organisms to environment

Living things are found in different places- water, land, air on other living things and even inside them. Some organisms thrive in challenging places like snow, deep sea, deserts, hot springs because they can adapt to these environments.

 The ability of organisms adapt to their environment is called adaptation.  These adaptations are useful for them to fulfil their needs,

             Ex:  food, shelter, protection

Here you can find more information about animal adaptation;

   Usefulness of colour for the existence of animals

Colour serves various essential purposes for the existence of animals, contributing to their survival, communication and overall adaptation to their environments.

The difficulty to identify animals separately from their surroundings due to blending of body colour to particular environments is called Camouflage.

Examples for Camouflage:
The peppered moth is a classic example of camouflage adaptation. During the industrial revolution, pollution darkened trees, making light-colored moths more visible to predators. Dark -colored moths previously rare became better comouflaged in the soot-covered environment, and their population increased through natural selection. This illustrates how color adaptation enhances an organism's survival in changing environments.

Some kinds of lizards change their colour according to the environment they live.

Skin colour of the animals helped them not only to protect themselves from predators but also to find prey for them. The leopard with spotted skin and dusty colour helps them to catch preys without been seen.
